Many of our projects take a mutiple approach to redusing water consumption and carbon dioxide production.
These projects often include rainwater harvesting systems in combination with greywater systems, solar hot water systems, appliances to increase water efficiency During the first half of 2005 we carried out 21 Rainwater projects with
a total of 38 tanks and a storage capacity of 128,050L. These tanks capture
rainwater which would otherwise enter the stormwater system to be taken away
from the site unused. The captured rainwater is then used to irrigate the
garden, flush the toilet and in the washing machine, this reduces the total
amount of portable water used and reducing the stormwater load.
There
have been a number of jobs where we have increased water efficency use
with installation of pressure limiting valves, 6 / 3 Flush
Toilets, 4.5 / 3 Smartflush toilets, shower restrictor/low flow
shower heads 9 lt/min & waterless urinals.
We have carried
out 100's of water audits which determined water use of the household
or organisation. Once determined we discuss how this can be reduced. We offer plumbing advice including the benefits of updating older fixtures and fittings
to those which use less water, less electricity in running and are manufactured
out of recycled materials or materials that are capable of being recycled.
At all times we encourage our clients not only to make a difference by
using more efficient plumbing fixtures but also to think about the impact that
their other actions might have on the environment.
